Hello, my dears! Thank you to those of you who helped out with the Christmas card booth today! I was pleased that so many of you turned out even though we didn't have our usual meeting yesterday. I know that was terribly inconvenient timing, but there you have it. We must make do. As we were just going to be going over arrangement for the Christmas cards anyway, I suppose it's not too much of a loss.[ Professors Beery and Flitwick ]
But, that said, I would really like to encourage everyone to make sure they can come on Saturday. I'll be making sure that the gardens are well-looked after this week (though if anyone else wants to volunteer to help with that I wouldn't complain) so our Saturday meeting can be spent working on the Christmas card orders we've had so far.
And I think that is all for now, unless anyone else has something to add.
Hello, sirs! I thought that you two would be the best to go to with this question -- Alastor and I have been discussing the Home Front Support League's winter victory garden, and, understandably living up here in the Highlands and next to the lake, our main concern at the moment is with large snows. I thought that you two would be the most adept at answering my questions about how to protect our plants, aside from the usual Anti-Frost Charms and whatnot. He suggested perhaps a Shield Charm if snow was anticipated, but we weren't certain if that would prevent the plants from receiving the sunlight and water they need.[ Evie ]
Thank you so much for your time!
What has gotten into yoEvie, do you have something you'd like to tell me?
I swear on Merlin's musty grave, it is nights like tonight that I rather think you are right in characterising my being Sorted into Gryffindor as unfortunate in spite of the friends I have made. Or, rather, I wish that I could trade a certain someone for someone more tolerable who doesn't make me want to tear my hair out. The privilege and naivete of some of the student body is utterly infuriating. I am tired of hearing my dormmate prattle on about "resolving things peacefully" as though madmen like Grindelwald will just lay down their wands if we are nice enough. And she called me a cow.[ Evie ]
Being the bigger person is exhausting.
This is not an admission that you are right about Gryffindor, by the by. I am merely venting my frustrations. Also, you haven't formally asked me to
Evie, dear. Tell me all about how Saul asked you to the ball. I would very much like to hear about it.
Hello, Mr Moody! Can you perhaps spare a moment of your time? I have some rather trivial things to ask of you.[ Home Front Support League ]
Hello, my dears! Can you believe, the week is almost over, which means that tomorrow, we will be having our Saturday meeting. I understand that some of you may have other obligations, but I do hope that a few of us at least can get together. The winter rye and winter wheat both need looking after, as well as the carrots, cabbages, and onions.[ Gracie ]
In addition, there is still some canning to be done from the harvest we had, but that is Miss Foster's area so I will deflect to her on the matter.
We don't have a list of soldiers to write to this week, though hopefully I will be receiving one for next Saturday and Hadrian will compile it for me.
Besides the normal upkeep, of course we have the Christmas benefit, which we discussed on Tuesday. For those of you who missed it, we will be selling Christmas cards, and will be cooperating with the choir so that students can pay a bit more and send their friends carols. I still need volunteers to man the booth. The proceeds from this will be going to buy supplies for next spring's garden, so this is very important.
And I think that is it, for the time being. Thank you!
Gracie, dear, do you know Mr Fergus Mulciber well? I know he is your classmate.
